Looking for a role where you can make a real impact? This is your chance to join Cadent’s Energy Control Centre, where you’ll be at the heart of keeping the UK’s gas networks running safely and efficiently. You’ll monitor and manage our five major networks, ensuring millions of homes and businesses stay powered.

With structured training, excellent career development, and competitive shift allowances, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-paced, critical environment.

Why you’ll love this role

  • Leadership Influence – Work closely with senior stakeholders, shaping operational delivery and creating accountability at every level.
  • Agile Delivery – Flex between monitoring and managing gas flows within commercial and physical limits, and stepping in to manage specific projects when needed.
  • Continuous Improvement – Embed best practice across the function and improve how we deliver, track, and communicate change.

What you’ll bring

  • Technical Credentials – HNC in a STEM subject preferred, but we’ll support you to achieve it if needed. Professional engineering qualification (CEng or IEng) or a willingness to work towards one.
  • Operational Experience – Control room or operational experience preferred but not essential, as full training is provided.
  • Sharp Decision-Making Skills – Ability to work calmly under pressure and make key decisions.
  • Detail-Focused – Excellent data accuracy and monitoring abilities.
  • Flexible – Able to work a rotational 24/7 shift pattern, with occasional changes as required.

This is a shift working role, following a 24/7 rotational shift pattern. Two shift patterns apply:

  • 24/7 shift rota working Morning/Afternoon and Night shifts attracting 26% shift allowance.
  • Alternating shift pattern working Morning/Afternoon shifts Monday – Friday attracts 13.5% shift allowance. (Potentially utilised during periods of training)

If you are successful for this role, NSV checks will apply.
