Title: Risk and Assurance Officer
Base Location: Nearest office/depot – required to travel to London occasionally

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Risk and Assurance Officer to join the team, playing a critical role in ensuring robust risk management, effective controls and high-quality assurance across the business.
This role is central to supporting operational performance by identifying risks, delivering assurance activities and driving improvements to processes and controls. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you’ll help ensure compliance, promote best practice and support a culture of continuous improvement.

- Design and execute assurance activities with robust methodologies, ensuring findings are representative, evidence-based and actionable.
- Identify risks and process challenges, ensuring appropriate mitigations are in place, tracked and escalated where required.
- Improve processes by recommending enhancements to controls and ways of working, supporting continuous improvement across the business.
- Collaborate effectively with teams to share insights, promote learning and contribute to risk reviews and assurance planning.
- Support compliance and governance by monitoring Health and Safety, ensuring adherence to standards and maintaining strong control frameworks.
What You’ll Bring
- A valid UK driving licence is required for this role.
- Risk & Assurance Expertise - Experience in risk, controls or assurance roles within an operational environment, with a strong understanding of assurance principles and frameworks
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills - Ability to interpret data, conduct root cause analysis and identify practical solutions to complex challenges
- Business & Regulatory Awareness - Understanding of operational environments, regulatory requirements and key business drivers
- Communication & Influence - Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage, influence and adapt style across all levels
- Planning & Delivery Capability - Experience designing and delivering assurance activities, managing action plans and driving outcomes
- Systems & IT Skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint) and confidence using business systems and data sources
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement - A proactive, team-focused approach with a passion for improving processes and sharing best practice
