Shape the commercial decisions that keep the network moving

In this role, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring Cadent delivers value for money while meeting regulatory, operational and customer commitments. Sitting at the heart of our Commercial team, you’ll provide expert cost and commercial control across a complex operational environment, influencing decisions that directly impact business performance.

This role goes far beyond reporting numbers. You’ll work closely with Network Operations, Finance, Delivery Partners and senior stakeholders to challenge costs, manage risk and ensure that our commercial arrangements remain robust, competitive and compliant. From forecasting and auditing to contract management and cost assurance, you’ll bring insight, rigour and confidence to every commercial decision.

You’ll also help shape how we work – driving improvements in data quality, commercial processes and performance, while supporting colleagues and suppliers to operate to the highest standards. It’s an opportunity to make a genuine difference in a high-profile, highly trusted role.

Why you’ll love this role

This is a varied and commercially influential role where your expertise will be seen, valued and relied upon.

  • Strategic Impact – Provide commercial insight that supports operational delivery and long-term business objectives.
  • End-to-End Commercial Ownership – Manage forecasting, reporting, assurance, benchmarking and cost challenge across internal teams and contractors.
  • Stakeholder Influence – Work collaboratively with networks, finance, legal and delivery partners to drive the right outcomes.
  • Problem Solving at Scale – Investigate complex cost and performance issues and develop clear, practical solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement – Identify efficiencies, improve commercial processes and raise standards across the business.

What you’ll bring

You’re a confident commercial professional who combines strong technical capability with the ability to influence, challenge and build trust.

  • Commercial Expertise – Proven experience in cost control, forecasting and commercial management within a regulated or complex operational environment.
  • Contract Knowledge – Strong understanding of contract frameworks (such as NEC) and the ability to manage claims, variations and compensation events.
  • Analytical Strength – Comfortable analysing complex data, identifying trends and translating insight into clear recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Confidence – Able to challenge constructively, support negotiations and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Delivery Mindset – Proactive, detail-focused and driven to improve performance, value and compliance.
