In this Non-MRP Support Engineer position, you’ll combine technical expertise with strong communication skills to take ownership of a specialist service, operating within agreed processes, procedures, and timescales. We’re looking for a driven professional to ensure that all team activities are effectively planned and executed, making the best use of resources to achieve timely delivery for both internal and external customers.

In this position you will be responsible for:

 

Surveys & Site Management. Undertake surveys, manage Local Delivery Partners (LDPs), and discharge Principal Contractor duties under CDM for customer‑driven works outside the scope of the Construction Management Organisation (CMO).

 

Project Oversight & Compliance. Act as Site Manager/CDM Principal Contractor representative for self‑delivery models, review RO/NRO documentation, authorise work, and support compliance with key regulations including PSSR, PSR, EWR, COMAH, and GS(M)R.

 

Customer Journey & Delivery Standards. Ensure excellent customer experience across surveys, construction, and installation, managing Cadent and customer works to meet key dates, quality standards, and programme expectations.

 

Safety, Quality & Risk Management. Support monitoring of delivery partners on SHES, quality, programme, cost, and customer outcomes; carry out inspections, investigations, and defect correction; and contribute to safe control of operations and environmental compliance.

 

Collaboration & Expertise. Provide engineering input into design processes, act as the key interface between projects and stakeholders, support the Project Assurance Engineer (Non‑MRP), and deliver technical advice to strengthen programme delivery and reputation.

 

What you'll bring

 

Core Qualifications. Valid UK Driving Licence, SCO qualifications, EUSR safety passport, CDM awareness training, IOSH Managing Safety Certificate, and a degree in engineering (or equivalent) with Engineering Chartership or equivalent experience.

 

SCO & Gas Engineering Expertise. Registered SCO 2/4/5 Competent Person and Authorising Engineer, with extensive gas engineering experience and proven ability to administer authorisation processes.

 

Safety & Compliance Knowledge. Comprehensive understanding of safety techniques, legislation, policies, procedures, codes of practice, engineering instructions, and statutory regulations, including accident/incident reporting and investigation.

 

Operational & Technical Experience. Post‑degree experience in operational or contractor environments, conducting inspections, producing and evaluating RAMS, undertaking technical site compliance inspections, and managing design approvals (G17/G35).

 

 Project & Regulatory Understanding. Strong knowledge of Cadent’s engineering operations, NEC contracts, project handover records, CDM Health & Safety file requirements, and the critical interface between temporary and permanent works through design.
