Job Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our growing major hydrogen infrastructure team. As a key member of the project team you will support the commercial and contractual management of a portfolio of hydrogen pipeline projects. The role offers exciting development opportunities as our projects progress through the project lifecycle, from feasibility through to construction and commissioning.  

What you’ll get to work on

Pre-Contract Support

  • Support the preparation of tenders and analysis of tender submissions.
  • Support the preparation of cost estimates and the approval/ governance process.
  • Support with the preparation of customer cost estimates and negotiation of head contracts (as applicable).

Post Contract Management and Administration

  • Prepare accurate project cost reports, including Consultant/Contractor and Owners costs.
  • Attend design meetings/construction sites regularly to review and monitor Consultant/Contractor progress in order to verify their costs, compensation events and identify early warnings.
  • Review Consultant/ Contractor applications for payment, with robust justification for any disallowed costs.
  • Develop and present robust cost forecasts to internal key stakeholders, with support from the Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • Ensure contingency is managed through the cost review and risk reduction meetings held with the Contractors/Consultants and the Project Delivery team.
  • Analyse and benchmark commercial data on projects to provide informed guidance and analysis on commercial performance.
  • Draft applications for payment and customer cost reports (as applicable).
  • Ensure commercial and financial processes and procedures are adhered to.

Who are we looking for

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar.
  • Preferably MRICS qualified or working towards MRICS.
  • Experience of working with NEC Contracts.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and projects.
  • Proven ability of delivering a quality stakeholder experience to internal and external stakeholders, always acting responsibly and communicating clearly.
