Drive safety excellence as a Cadent CDM Specialist!

 

 

As a CDM Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring health, safety, and compliance are at the heart of how we deliver major infrastructure projects across Cadent. This isn’t just about ticking regulatory boxes – it’s about embedding a culture of safety and design excellence from concept to completion.

 

Working across our entire network, you’ll provide expert guidance on CDM regulations, influence design and planning decisions, and ensure that all duty holders understand and fulfil their responsibilities. You’ll lead the development and implementation of robust CDM frameworks, support risk assessments, and champion best practices that protect people and the environment. You’ll be a trusted advisor to project teams, designers, and contractors – helping them navigate complex requirements while maintaining momentum and quality. Whether reviewing pre-construction information, coordinating with Principal Designers, or auditing site practices, your insight will be key to delivering safe, compliant, and successful outcomes.

  • Planning: Develop and monitor construction phase plans, ensuring effective discharge of CDM duties.

 

  • Competency Review: Review contractor competency and support the induction process for setting contractors to work.

 

  • Assurance: Conduct assurance checks on our supply chain to ensure compliance with CDM duties and evaluate the effectiveness of their Safety Management Systems.

 

  • Policy Implementation: Embed and communicate operational, process safety, CDM, environmental, and security policies across direct labour and the supply chain.

 

  • Specialist Advice: Provide specialist advice on Client, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor duties under CDM 2015 for all projects

 

What you will bring

  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Safety Qualification (e.g. NEBOSH)
  • Ideally educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant Construction/Safety based discipline
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, capable of influencing contractors at a senior level and gaining support from a wider operational group.
  • Information Management: Ability to understand and present information clearly and reliably to aid informed business decisions.
  • Programme Management: Proven experience in programme management, technical/SHEs standards, and design frameworks, with a strong working knowledge of CDM.
  • Problem Solving: Good problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and resolve issues using a rational approach, applying SHEs policies and procedures to achieve business goals.
  • SHEs Standards: Proven experience with SHEs standards and solid experience in applying SHEs policies and procedures to achieve business goals.
