what you'll get to work on

The Design Engineer will ensure the Portfolio project team and supply chain partners are compliant with design related legislation, Cadent policy, procedures, and specifications throughout the lifecycle of the project. You will liaise with other Cadent Design Teams, Contractors, 3rd Party Designers and External Agencies to ensure compliance, consistency and best practice is adopted. You'll support the development of contract documentation including the identification of procedures and specifications for inclusion in the Works Information. Ensuring appointed GD/PM/G/17 Approvers and Appraisers are registered on the Cadent database and check the scope and any limitations are appropriate to the design work to be undertaken.

 

You'll also 

  • Ensure that project design activities are undertaken in accordance with the Engineering Design Activity Schedule.
  • Review, comment and monitor the implementation of the Contractor’s: Design Plan, Design Change
  • Control procedure / register, CDM Risk Register and Technical Risk Register.
  • Manage the Technical Query and Deviation process as required by Cadent Polices & Procedures and the quality/content of design appraisal pack submissions.
  • Interface with the SHEQS Team on a regular basis to ensure suitable design information is provided to
  • facilitate production of compliance reporting and Design and CDM audit activities.
  • Collate and provide monthly updates to the SHEQS Team for Hazards Removed/ Observations throughout design in accordance with Cadent Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure all activities and interactions are compliant with Cyber policy & procedures
  • Ensure all data is captured accurately and handled/stored to comply with Cadent Policies & Procedures
  • Participate within the Network Operational Standby rota

Who are we looking for

  • HNC/HND (Degree desirable)
  • Professional Accreditation – Incorporated or Chartered Engineer in relevant engineering field desirable
  • IOSH
  • SCO AE & CP
  • Demonstrable experience in a technical / engineering role
  • In depth understanding of GD/PM/G/17 disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Cathodic Protection and Safety Engineering) and requirements for Design Approval & Appraisal
  • Knowledge of Process Safety, Safety in Design, CDM Regs 2015 and Quality Management Systems.
  • Understanding of Cadent policies and procedures (T/PM/HAZ suite, GD/PM/G/17 or T/PM/G/35, T/PM/RE/18)
