Why You'll Love This Role

• Project Assurance & Compliance: Deliver assurance and reporting on replacement, diversion, and reinforcement works, ensuring alignment with policies and adherence to critical regulations including PSSR, PSR, EWR, COMAH, and GS(M)R.
  
  
  
• Technical Oversight & Documentation: Review project documentation and completed works for compliance, authorise work under set procedures, and maintain thorough records.
  
  
  
• Operational Safety & Investigations: Conduct technical inspections and investigations to verify safe and efficient operations; oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, including ISO14001 and PAS55 compliance.
  
  
  
• Stakeholder & Partner Management: Oversee Local Delivery Partners (LDPs), verify their adherence to policies and standards, and monitor engineering and technical performance across projects.
  
  
  
• Strategic Engineering & Policy Support: Act as Authorising Engineer under SCO, advise on practicable policy updates, manage network modifications, and provide expert technical input as needed.

What You'll Bring

• Engineering Qualifications & Professional Accreditation - A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, supported by Engineering Chartership or comparable experience. SCO qualifications and a valid UK driving licence
  
  
• Specialist SCO Competence & Authorisation - Competent Person registration in SCO 2 / 4 / 5 and Authorising Engineer experience, with hands-on expertise in authorising and administering safe engineering practices
  
  
  
• Extensive Industry Experience - Proven background in gas engineering, inspections, preventive action, and authorisation processes in line with operational and regulatory expectations
  
  
  
• Knowledge of Safety & Legislation Standards - Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols, legislation, engineering codes, and statutory regulations—including IMRRP, PSR, GS(M)R, and other relevant frameworks
  
  
  
• Operational Insight & Sector Familiarity - In-depth familiarity with Cadent operations, engineering procedures, and stakeholder expectations, with experience in contractor or operational environments considered beneficial
