As our Assistant Commercial Management Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in how we plan, control and deliver commercial activity across Cadent. This isn’t just about numbers, processes or reports – this is about enabling smarter decisions, stronger supplier partnerships and efficient delivery across our network.
Working across multiple operational areas, you’ll bring structure, analysis and clear commercial thinking to activities that support both day‑to‑day operations and long-term strategy. You’ll investigate complex issues, recommend practical solutions, and provide the clarity needed to ensure our commercial commitments are met. You’ll also influence the way we engage suppliers, manage costs and deliver value for customers.

- Project & Technical Support – Play a key part in delivering commercial projects and providing operational expertise across the network.
- Supplier & Stakeholder Management – Build strong, collaborative relationships, driving supplier performance and alignment with Cadent’s values and policies.
- Performance & Process Improvement – Identify root causes of issues, lead process reviews and champion improvements that enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Commercial & Financial Oversight – Manage cost data, budgets and reporting to ensure compliance with contract, regulatory and financial frameworks.
- Operational Delivery & Compliance – Oversee subcontractor activity, valuations and commercial controls, ensuring work meets engineering, regulatory and value-for-money standards.
What You'll Bring:
You’re a confident commercial professional with strong analytical skills, sound judgement and the ability to influence effectively across teams.
- Educational & Commercial Expertise – Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in a commercial discipline with experience in contract or commercial environments.
- Process & Policy Knowledge – A solid understanding of commercial processes, HR policies, operational activities and the regulatory drivers shaping our industry.
- Analytical & Financial Skills – Strong capability in auditing, cost modelling, financial interpretation and benchmarking to support commercial decision-making.
- Collaboration & Influence – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trust, negotiate effectively and work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Delivery & Problem-Solving – A track record of delivering high-quality outputs under pressure with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
