What you'll get to work on

As a Fleet Compliance Officer you will undertake safety and procedural compliance inspections, providing advice, support, and specialist knowledge for all associated related activities within the network, providing a framework for wider compliance and continual improvement
You will understand potential operational risks and work to mitigate, where possible and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of appropriate legislation, policies and procedures, technical standards and codes of practice, to ensure the provision of a safe and cost-effective service. Supporting where necessary with incident investigations and investigation reports for submission to enforcing authorities, ensuring data recording and accuracy is appropriate and complete to support accurate management and regulatory reporting.

 

The role holder will also be responsible for...
• Delivering quality assurance inspections to ensure that our Fleet is being correctly managed and delivered
• Providing onsite monitoring of Fleet safety matters across the Network, for all work types
• Ensuring Fleet activities across Networks are being correctly managed and delivered in accordance with Cadent policies and the relevant Safety Management Systems
• Ensuring technical aspects of Fleet activities are executed in line with Cadent policies and industry guidance 
• Advising and supporting incident investigations, as required
• Ensuring that all vehicles within Fleet adhere to regulations, including licencing and legislations
• Contributing to the process of sharing initiatives and innovation across Cadent and its partners to optimise performance across all Cadent projects 
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable sharing of best practice across all organisations
• Ensuring adherence to Cadent requirements and verification of data provided in respect of safety management and ensure operational and process safety and security policies are effectively applied
• Supporting the team to provide Fleet operations support and guidance to internal customers 
• Actively engaging with the wider SHES team and other stake holders across Cadent to promote safe driving and compliance initiative 
• Sharing and promoting technical and procedural best practice
• Engender and operate in a culture of zero tolerance of accidents and self-inflicted incidents
• Supporting the Fleet team’s deliverables in line with the wider team and business strategy
• Carrying out transport audits to ensure compliance with Cadent’s stated lines of assurance around Operator licence undertaking, providing true insight into Fleet operations and management of all Fleet assets.

Who are we looking for

• Valid UK Driving Licence
• Safety qualification (such as NEBOSH, IOSH Managing safely)
• Assessor Qualification (D32/33, A1 or TAQA)
• Good understanding of relevant SHEs and transport legislation, associated codes of practice and other guidance, including car, LCV, HGV and Operator Licencing
• Knowledge of Government VOL Operator Licence system and Operator Licence compliance
• Good knowledge of Cadent’s policies, procedures, and other supporting documentation
• Able to demonstrate good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to build effective working relationships with other colleagues and stakeholders and work collaboratively across different departments.
• Excellent planning and organisation skills.
