Title: Design Engineer
Job Purpose
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our Operation Transformation Programme ensure effective planning and execution of team activities, optimizing resources, and delivering timely results to our customers. You will leverage your expertise and communication skills to provide specialist services within agreed processes and timelines. Trusted to deliver quality, you will promote a positive safety culture and resolve complex issues with practical solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with design-related legislation, Cadent policies, procedures, and specifications throughout project lifecycles.
- Liaise with internal design teams, contractors, third-party designers, and external agencies to ensure compliance, consistency, and best practices.
- Lead the implementation of Quality and Design Management procedures, ensuring project design activities align with the Engineering Design Activity Schedule.
- Support contract documentation development, including identifying procedures and specifications for inclusion in Works Information.
- Manage the Technical Query and Deviation process, and review and monitor contractors' design plans, change control procedures, and risk registers.
- Interface with the SHEQ Team to provide design information for compliance reporting and audits, and review contractors' temporary works procedures.
- Coordinate design progress meetings, ensure the availability of current drawing registers, and support the project team in delivering accurate design information for commissioning and handover.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
- Minimum HNC/HND
- Degree (desirable)
- Professional Accreditation – Incorporated or Chartered Engineer in a relevant engineering field
Practical Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in a technical/engineering role
- In-depth understanding of GD/PM/G/17 disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Cathodic Protection, and Safety Engineering) and requirements for Design Approval & Appraisal
- Knowledge of Process Safety, Safety in Design, CDM Regulations 2015, and Quality Management Systems
- Understanding of Cadent policies and procedures (CAD/PM/HAZ suite, GD/PM/G/17 or T/PM/G/35, T/PM/RE/18)
