As a Technical Security Engineer at Cadent, you will play a vital role in safeguarding our people, assets and operations. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your expertise in physical and technical security will help shape and maintain a secure environment across our national infrastructure.

 

You will lead on the design, implementation and continuous improvement of our Integrated Security Solution (ISS), managing critical systems such as Active Directory, access control, CCTV, and alarm monitoring. You will also oversee the Alarm Response Centre (ARC), ensuring 24/7 operational readiness and effective incident response.

 

This is a hybrid role with flexibility, offering the opportunity to work across multiple sites and collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, and external partners. You will be part of a specialist on-call rota, contributing to a resilient and responsive security function.

What you’ll bring:

You are a technically skilled and security-minded professional with a strong background in IT infrastructure and physical security systems.

 

  • Qualifications & Experience – Degree (or equivalent) in computer or technical engineering, MSCA/MCSE, ITIL Foundation, and experience with mission-critical systems.
  • Technical Expertise – Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware, and alarm/access control systems.
  • Security Knowledge – Understanding of physical, personal and personnel security principles, with the ability to hold government security clearance.
  • Analytical Thinking – Skilled in problem-solving, incident investigation, and developing practical solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Confident communicator with experience working across internal teams, suppliers, and external agencies.
