As our Finance and Governance Officer, you’ll provide the specialist expertise that underpins the regulatory, financial and governance requirements of Cadent’s Social Programmes. You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the RIIO‑3 VCMA and BAU allowances, ensuring we meet all regulatory obligations while enabling community‑focused programmes that make a real impact.

From financial analysis to project reporting and compliance, you’ll help us deliver a robust, transparent, and effective programme that supports the communities we serve.

Enable Strong Governance
Provide trusted specialist support across all governance and financial aspects of VCMA and Social Programmes, ensuring we fulfil our obligations under new regulatory frameworks and internal assurance processes.
Drive Data‑Led Decision Making
Analyse large datasets to measure programme performance and impact, using insight to inform decision‑making and support strategic planning.
Deliver Financial Excellence
Produce accurate forecasts and budgets, track spend, and provide clear financial reporting to ensure effective monitoring of VCMA funding and value‑for‑money assessments.
Create Clear and Compelling Insight
Prepare dashboards, reports, and analysis using advanced Excel skills, presenting complex information simply and clearly to senior internal and external stakeholders.
Meaningful Community Impact
Ensure our social investment programmes are well‑governed, effectively monitored, and confidently reported—helping us drive positive change for customers and communities.
Champion Inclusion & Safety
Promote a positive safety culture and support the creation of inclusive environments where everyone can contribute, feel valued, and thrive.
What you’ll bring
Specialist Expertise
- Experience working with large datasets and strong analytical capability.
- Proficiency across spreadsheets and Microsoft tools, with advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and governance expectations.
- Experience in project delivery, programme management or financial reporting.
Customer & Stakeholder Focus
- Confident written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex data into simple insight.
- Ability to deliver brilliant customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience influencing across different teams and organisational levels.
Decision‑Making & Ownership
- Ability to deliver to clear processes, procedures and timescales.
- Ownership of specialist services within agreed internal and external expectations.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Experience working cross‑functionally to deliver outcomes.
